How awesome of a childhood memory would this be? Five-year-old Esther Nolt hangs out with moon pies in China.

How awesome of a childhood memory would this be?

Today, I stumbled upon the blog of Goshen College prof Steve Nolt, who, along with his wife, Rachel, and their two young daughters, are leading 21 students on a Study Service Term in China. This group is living with host families and they’re all experiencing firsthand what life has been like after a devastating earthquake struck the Sichuan province and killed 90,000 people.

I’ve really enjoyed Nolt’s entries about students practicing tai-chi and celebrating the Mid-Autumn festival with plenty of moon pies and jiaozi (some delicious-looking Chinese dumpling creation). Most of all, though, I’ve enjoyed pictures of the Nolt daughters, 5 year-old Esther and 7 year-old Lydia, enjoying the culture right along with their parents. I can’t imagine a witnessing more amazing childhood memory in the making, even if it is through blog pictures.
