That's me in Buenos Aires, my favorite city in the world. So far.
I’m Katie. I’m a social journalist.
I’ve been using the web as a secondary tool for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I made a ‘zine and sent it out using a new form of communication called “electronic mail.”
I’m from Elkhart, Ind., otherwise known as the poster city for America’s newest recession (Msnbc.com will tell you it is, anyway). I left Elkhart’s truly amazing community newspaper to pursue my master’s degree at Medill. I graduated in December 2009.
I recently finished a gig with The Chicago Tribune’s RedEye as their second-ever social media intern — they liked me so much, they allowed me to keep growing my internship project. I’m now a social media producer at The Washington Post.
I’m having an incredible year.
I call the Midwest home, and Chicago is my adopted hometown. Among my favorite activities: People-watching, attending White Sox games, traveling, learning to cook and tinkering with social media gizmos.
I started this site to display some of my clips, blogs, photos and thoughts about what I do. (For better or worse, opinions expressed here belong to me.) Thanks much for stopping by. If you’re feeling expressive, drop me a line: katierogerswrites [at] gmail [dot] com.

I am making a web page on grey’s anatomy and i was wondering if i could use the picture of the cast as my background?!
I read your posting on first week of grad school. All great realizations. Remember it is not about you. You have so much more to teach the world. Get some smart skills and get the f out.
Still keeping this up? http://katierogerswrites.com/about/
nice post!
Yea, Katie! I see where you’ve landed. Congratulations!
I’m having Women on Fire Retreat in Chicago with Stedman Graham as keynote speaker and some great women, too. April 23-24…are you available freelance to do some social media/press for it? xo Debbie
