buenosaires

That's me in Buenos Aires, my favorite city in the world. So far.

I’m Katie. I’m a social journalist.

I’ve been using the web as a secondary tool for as long as I can remember. As a kid,  I made a ‘zine and sent it out using a new form of communication called “electronic mail.”

I’m from Elkhart, Ind., otherwise known as the poster city for America’s newest recession (Msnbc.com will tell you it is, anyway). I left Elkhart’s truly amazing community newspaper to pursue my master’s degree at Medill. I graduated in December 2009.

I recently finished a gig with The Chicago Tribune’s RedEye as their second-ever social media intern — they liked me so much, they allowed me to keep growing my internship project. I’m now a social media producer at The Washington Post.

I’m having an incredible year.

I call the Midwest home, and Chicago is my adopted hometown. Among my favorite activities: People-watching, attending White Sox games, traveling, learning to cook and tinkering with social media gizmos.

I started this site to display some of my clips, blogs, photos and thoughts about what I do. (For better or worse, opinions expressed here belong to me.) Thanks much for stopping by. If you’re feeling expressive, drop me a line:  katierogerswrites [at] gmail [dot] com.
