Reporting/Social Media Work (2008)

The point of this page is to display links to stories you might like. It’s got a few, but it’s mainly still under construction. For now, enjoy this random sampling of projects I’ve liked:

Technically, I work the education beat …
* Why do students fight?
* When kids have kids, they tend to grow up fast.
* How schools in my area work to increase the graduation rate.

… but I am truly a jack of all trades …
* Twitter coverage of Barack Obama’s Aug. 6 visit to Elkhart. It’s been fun to learn more about how social media can help enhance the journalistic experience.
* A Goshen College professor wrote a bilingual book of short stories. He said a lot of great things that wouldn’t make it into a print story, so I took the audio from our interview and made my first podcast (that’s on the story page, too).
* I helped plan the first live blog our paper ever did, and that felt good. The live blog was on the 2008 vice presidential debate between Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Joe Biden, and you can replay it by clicking here.

And here are some random, random photos I’ve taken …
